Hi everyone! First of all, I would like to say that this site is great. As a newbie to baking, this site has helped a great deal. But on to my situation. My youngest daughter's 1st birthday is at the end of September and we are doing it in a ladybug's theme. I was wondering if any of you great bakers out there would have a great recipe for a ladybug cake you would like to share. I have just started out trying to bake (everything has been edible, so far) so simple is better. Thanks in advance.

I used to make a bundt cake recipe that was a yellow cake and then you poked holes in the batter and poured in strawberry or raspberry jello (dry mix) and then when it cooked it had red stripes or swirls throughout and was kinda a gel-type consistency. I've never tried it on anything other than a bundt cake. Wonder if it would work on a "regular" cake?

Might be cute to make a half-ball on top of a regular sheet cake. Frost the ball red, like a ladybug. You could use black licorace for the antennae and legs. Decorate the sheet cake with green grass and flowers.

Ladybugs are so cute. Are you wanting something different than the ladybug pan?

Yes, I was trying to think of something other than the Wilton pan. I may have to go that route. I love ladybugs, too. I have found some adorable party decorations for it. Now if only I could decide on a cake... icon_wink.gif

A ladybug is pretty easy to draw. Here's one I did. It whipped up fast!
