Can you place a silk ribbon around the base of a cake iced in buttercream...the all crisco buttercream.

I would think it would ruin the ribbon, do you place something between the ribbon and the icing, if so, what?

Thanks!!!

I usually just cut wax paper the exact size of the ribbon and wrap that around the cake between the ribbon and the buttercream. It works just fine for me.

ok, one more question...do you use tape to hold the ribbon in place?

Thanks

Try using double stick tape
