I have a lot of people around here that ask for just buttercream, they're afraid of fondant apparently. I'd rather work in fondant... mainly because when it comes to buttercream roses, I SUCK! I'm okay with piping and whatnot, but the roses terrify me. Luckily, I have a mother-in-law that's awesome at them, so we are a team.

But anyway - I'm looking for ideas for all buttercream cakes - wedding ideas in particular - or baby shower as well - those are my main cakes lately. I see TONS of fondant ones that I love, so... I'm handing it to you CCers - what are your favorite ALL BUTTERCREAM CAKES????

Not to take away from some very talented CC'rs, I'd recommend you have a look thru ThanhThanh 's photos... her cakes are pretty much ALL buttercream and that is why I watch for her work. It's excellent.

Mine are nowhere NEAR as good as Thanh Thanh's but I'm an all BC decorator, if you want to check out some of mine for ideas. I believe aobodessa is primarily BC also and she has some great cakes to check out!

Being someone who prefers all buttercream myself, I have saved quite a few to my favorites. Here are a couple for weddings and a couple for baby showers:

There are likely thousands on CC...I'm sure you will see many that you love.

indydebi - your 5-tier basketweave is one of my favorite wedding cakes... my niece's also. She says that she wants this one for her wedding... since she's 7 now, I have some time to practice! icon_biggrin.gif

Awesome! Thanks guys - gina - the cake you had by Marilyn is actually what brought me to this question! I had that one in my faves as well, and last night a client preferred that one out of my selections because of the all buttercream, I didn't have many of those to choose from.

Got anymore??

You can do some great decorating with ribbon. Swiss dots and lines are great accents also
