I'm working on a fondant cake for a christening. Very simple, just a cross and message on top and ribbon border on the bottom. I CAN'T COVER MY BOO BOOS!!!! The fondant didn't stick well to the sides, and the top edges are badly rounded. Is there some kind of border I can put on the top that won't look odd? I've been using royal icing for the decorating, so I'm afraid if I make a batch of bc, the color won't match.
Can anyone help me??

If you know how to do cornelli lace I find that it covers a multitude of booboos icon_wink.gif

I've only ever done it in buttercream but maybe it would work in royal too.

What colors are you using? Would white cornelli work?

Or cut out little fondant flowers? Or vines and leaves.

Light blue and chocolate brown. Argh! Now I see since I took a pic that I must not have had enough bc on the sides, because you can see the layers.
Here's a pic.
Anyone know if you can do cornelli lace with royal?

I would do the cornelli lace or a shell border with a round tip (5, 6 or smaller depending on the size of the cake and how much you are trying to cover up)

oh more question...should I do the cornelli lace in brown, or mix up a batch of bc and do it in light blue?

THANK YOU!! I think it came out pretty well, except that the oval on top is a little lopsided. Considering the mess it was, I'm much happier.
