Hi! I have never made or decorated with Fondant. I would like to know what recipe to use to make just round fonandt balls so it can be a border to a cake. I would like to make different color balls. Please let me know if anyone has a good tasting fondant recipe that is pretty easy also.
Thanks so much!
Try the MMF (marshmallow fondant). I'm sure the recipe is floating around here somewhere. If no one finds it for you, I will post it when I get home from work.
To make the balls, just find something round to use as a "cookie cutter" on the fondant. That way, the balls will all be the same size when you roll them. You can try using the large part of a decorating tip and see if that's big enough.
Good luck. It's fun to work with (kind of like play-doh, LOL) and it tastes good, too.

Here is the large recipe, it is in the recipes section of CC. There is also a link in the recipe to an article about making and using MMF.

Here is a small batch recipe of MMF. I use it if I want a small amount, or if I want multiple colors. I color my MM when they are melted BEFORE I add the Powdered Sugar.
I got the recipe from Bunnywoman on Wilton Boards
Marshmallow fondant
1 cup mini marshmallows
1 tbsp water
1 1/2- 1 3/4 cup powder sugar
Place marshmallows in a standard 1 cup measuring cup and push down and pack them in. Place in a microwave safe bowl and add the water. Put in the microwave for about 20 seconds. Just long enough for them to soften and puff up. Take out and stir with a spoon until it is combined well.
At this point it looks kind of soupy. Then add the sugar and mix and fold until all is incorporated and it is no longer sticky. I take it out of the bowl when it gets to the point where most of the sugar is incorporated and I knead it in my hands. This takes roughly about 5-7 minutes. Take a fondant roller or a regular rolling pin and roll out just as you would Wilton's fondant.
You can get this fondant almost paper thin and it also repairs well.
It's cheap, easy to work with, and tastes great too.
Check out some other recipes also. Wilton has a homemade fondant recipe that I have heard good things about but haven't had a chance to make yet.
Look in the recipe section here on CC and there are probably other recipes for fondant also.
Hopefully someone else might have another one for you to try.
