I am a bit of a cookie newbie, I have done a few but never a bouquet so I have some questions for you experienced cookie bakers.

I am thinking about making a 7 cookie boquet for each of my kids teachers as an end of year gift. I was thinking a summer theme would be nice. My idea so far is: Beach ball, beach towel, butterfly, Flip Flop left and right. So I need at least another two cookies - any ideas?

I am thinking about getting cheap kid's pails with a little shovel, the beach toy kind, to put the bouquet in. The plastic pails are light so I need some weight at the bottom. What is usually used in cookie boquets?

The only time I put a stick in a cookie I had a problem with the cookies coming off their stick. How can I make sure the cookie stays on. Finally, what sticks do you use? I find the lollipop sticks so huge, the cookies need to be like a brick to accommodate those suckers. Is there another way of doing it?

Can't help with technical questions I have never made one before either but your other 2 cookies maybe: sunscreen bottle, sunglasses, a book, a sun, a sandcastle...

Hi Bakinggirl,
How about a bathing suit, sunglasses, beach umbrella, shells, crabs, sun, suntan lotion, picnic basket or cooler, beach chair, etc....
To weigh down a light container, I usually use aquarium gravel. It is pretty inexpensive for a bag.
For sticks I use bamboo skewers. They come in different lengths and can be cut easily. If the cookies come off of the sticks, I use a little royal icing as glue to hold them on.
Good luck and post pictures when you are done....

Thank you both for your excellent suggestions, lots of ideas there! I may have to do only one flip flop so that I can use more of your suggestions.

If I put gravel in the bottom of the pail for weight, do I still need something to stick the cookie sticks into, like a foam ball on top of that?

I would stick the gravel in a Ziploc bag (I'm just funny that way) and then put a piece of styrofoam on top of that. That is a cute idea to use the bucket!

I roll my cookies 3/8" thick and use the thick lollipop sticks as well. They have to bake a bit longer, but I've never had one fall off the stick (which I put in before baking).
