I don't know if this is because of "new crisco" but I have been having trouble getting the crumb coat to stick to the cake. I can literally peel it off of the cake and the cake is clean underneath. Even waiting for it to crust up a bit, and put another layer on, the crumb coat sticks to the spatula and peels off of the cake. Then I get crumbs in the topcoat. What am I doing wrong?

I had this same problem the other day with my cupcakes. I think maybe it is the new crisco. My icing seemed just like always...never had a problem before but I added more milk and (I use whipping cream also) to the icing. It worked. So.....I guess from now on this is what I need to do.....hmmmm...I wonder if the new crisco is the problem......so, just add a little more milk to it and see what happens.

I was having that problem and I found that my frosting was way too thick. I don't use crisco, so I cannot tell you about that, but I did read a post that someone was using the new crisco without a problem.

Thanks, I'm new to decorating. The first can of crisco i had was the real stuff. Everything after has been the non trans fat and I thought it was me. I'll try thinning out the frosting for the crumb coat.
