Well........here they are icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif my 2 entries for the Calgary Stampede 2006 Creative Living Competition.I took 2 first places which in Canada are Red ribbons.A tremendous amount of work but worth it.

The 3D Castle was all rolled royal icing!! icon_eek.gif Yes I had made the batches too thick and didn't want to throw them out so I began to roll it and pressed it onto the castle.Worked great!! Fondant figures and cannon, flags, snake, door,Chocolate rocks around.Dusted with moonstruck lustre dust, silver, copper for snake,Olive green for Dragon and multiple colors for base.

The cookie bouquet was done with a few techniques.Rolled fondant for the main cookie as they could not be perishable.Royal icing colorflow.Fondant accents on tuxedo and piped royal icing flowers about.Doves feathers were fondant lightly stripped with a knife to give the effect.Floral bouquet was all royal icing roses. The gift bao had fondant ribbons on the front painted with Lustre dust in Orchid pink and the dress and accents on hearts.Super pearl all over.POt was from Micheal's craftstore with styrofoam inside and sticks hot glued into place.

Thanks tyo everyone on this site for inspiration and helpful hints and many questions and answers! thumbs_up.gif Without all of your input these entries would not have done as well!! Thankyou icon_smile.gif

Wonderful!!!!! Your cookies are fantastic, I just love what you've done! I am blown away with the cake. I have such a hard time realizing these kinds of creations can actually be cakes. You did a wonderful job all around. Congratulations on your awards! Very impressed here in Kansas!

Zamode...

It actually happened by accident.I had made the royal icing with the intention of piping the stones on with a large round tip but the icing was too thick and I didn't want to throw it out so I kinda grabbed it and played with it in my hand and an idea popped into my head to try and press it on to the side of the cake.It worked great!!

CONGRATULATIONS !!! FEELS GOOD TO WIN DOESN'T IT ?
IT KIND OF MAKE YOU FEEL BAD TO WIN IT ALL,, BUT WHY ?
YOU WORK HARD TOO ? SOME PEOPLE SAY YOU ENTER IN IT FOR THE FUN, BUT WINNING ALWAYS COMES FIRST..THEY SAY THEY ENTERED FOR FUN WHEN THEY DON'T WIN. WINNING IS THE MOTIVATION, BESIDES DOING WHAT YOU LOVE TO DO THE MOST.CAKES. REALLY, IF IT'S FUN THEY WANT, THEN THEY SHOULD GO TO SIX FLAGS AMUZEMENT PARK.
PEOPLE ENTER IN COMPETITIONS FOR ONE REASON, TO WIN. AND YOU DID IT !!

CONGRATULATIONS!! NICE WORK..LOVE YOUR COOKIES AND CAKE. thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif
