This cake is for my sons End of season TBall party tomorrow (3pm)... it is iced in choc. buttercream and the accents are fondant... it needs something doesn't it? Like a border or something but I don't know what kind to add! I was thinking bead-but with chocolate icing I always think it turns out looking like p**p-literally! icon_smile.gif
Maybe someone could give me some suggestions?! Maybe just add a message on top? Also, what do you think about the 'baseballs'? is it obvious what they are or are people going to think i'm nutty?
Oh PS... I'm also going to add crushed gramcrackers around the edges for 'dirt'...

Hi, it already looks great but yeah I am just like you, always thinking like maybe this or to add that.... maybe a perfectionist? icon_wink.gificon_biggrin.gif

Maybe you could make a border of the smarties (I don't know if that is the right word, the colored chocolate things in the tube), if you don't want to use the chocolate icing for a border. For on top I think the "dirt" will add lots of extra, but if you want to write something it would be great too.

And yes the baseballs on the side look great, and very recognizable !!!

Hope you have a nice day with your sons party!!

I love your cake, so creative. I think it looks good the way it is, but...if you feel you want more. You could make the border white(like the lines on a baseball field), and add little fonant bases at each corner. But that is just a suggestion if you wanted to add something, I love the look of it now=) Jen

Ps...yes you baseballs look like baseballs=)

I think adding some m&m's as a border would be cute to tie in with the stand. This is really cute!!!

It sopposed to look like a t-ball stand, yes? That's what I thought it was anyway. I would line the edges with chocolate frosting but just do lines. Don't do the beads.

I think everyone is on the right track here cause I was thinking the same thing!

Just use a flat tip to create a white border to outline the plate! The home plate is kind of outlined anyway!

This is such a cute cake!!! They will all love it!! Great job!

Great job! Baseballs are instantly recognizable for what they are, and the cake looks perfect. But if you want a little more, the OP's ideas of bases in the corners sounds great, and so does a top border of whatever the candies in the tube are. thumbs_up.gif

The shape of the cake looks like a base to me. Not the whole field. To be honest I think it looks great the way it is.
