Hello everyone!
I'm stumped for what to write on a cake for our Pastor. It's a full sheet cake (half choc/half white) for celebrating him being ordained 35 years ago. I don't want to get to wordy and I'm not sure I want a scripture verse,.. ???? Anyone have any suggestions? So far this is all I have:

Rev. (Name)
Celebrating
35 Years in
Ministry

It just seems so blah... HELP!!!

Thanks all! I'm not putting this together till tomorrow night.

What about "Celebrating 35 years serving the Lord?" Or "the Lord and Others."

if lutheran, Mo-Syn Style..

do the lcms cross and then can do a play on the current evangelism program of the Mo-Syn, Ablaze

-----

or do some play on the word servant

servant of the Lord and his congregation

-----

or work off the word shepherd (think sheep!)

faithful shepherd

I know you wrote you may not want to use a Bible verse but I know a number of people have a "life verse." (A particular verse that they refer to sustain them.) You could find out if he has one and use it. It would definitely personalize it for him. Maybe incorporate it in the border or around the sides of the cake.

I love Gretta's idea of putting a short verse around like the border. Then maybe a cross in the center of the cake with a circle of roses around the cross.
