Growing up we would always get my dad a cake from the local bakery for his birthday. They called it a Canasta cake, and it has always been his favorite. 10 or so years ago the bakery closed, and we've never been able to find another cake like it. I have no idea if there are any alternative names. It was some kind of chocolatey cake with a light-medium brown kind of messy icing with nuts in it. I couldn't tell you anything other than that because I never liked the taste of the cake myself. But my dad's birthday is coming up this month, and I'd love to make this for him. If anyone has a clue to what I'm talking about, any help would be appreciated!
