Has a cake ever surprised you or challenged you in ways you didn't expect? I just finished a cake where I thought that the fairies were going to be sooooo hard but the rest of the cake...well "a piece of cake"
When it came down to it however, frosting the cake challenged me way more then the fairies. It took me almost three hours to frost the blasted thing but only 2 to make 2 fairies
I've been frosting cakes since I was twelve and these are my first fairies - WTH? I'm curious as to whether anyone else has had something similar happen to them?
That is 'Sod's Law' - like when you are not looking forward to a party but go and find you have a great time.
I'm going through this literally as we speak. I've just put my cake back in the fridge for the 3rd time and I had to sit down here and take a break. This cake should have been...well, you're right..."a piece of cake". Yeah...Not so much.
Well...now I've got to go back to it...never have I dreaded a cake as much as this one. ![]()
I feel your pain. I'm working on a spiderman cake. It's 11:38 PM EST...this cake is due tomorrow morning at 10a.m. I baked earlier this morning then spent the day w/my family at the lake thinking...hey, it's blue, red - a few spiderwebs and spiderman on top....boy was I wrong. But hey, I'm going to have cake balls tomorrow!
Yes for sure. Ive just finished my second cake for the weekend and i thought wow a turtle cake no worries... and again like my cake yesterday it was harder than i thought and i got really pissed off and packed my first tanty ever while decorating.... didnt turn out how i expected
