In my experience, the only cake mix that you can use has to be something that is dense...like sponge cake. I use White Almond Sour Cream recipe and it works great! HTH!!

When ever I have used the ball pan (after the first time) I always refridgerate or freeze each half for at least 24 hrs before stacking. This helps tremondously to keep it from collapsing. I also have used a box mix for all of mine.

HTH

Leily, I have the sports ball pan but have not used it yet. If you freeze each half before putting them together, do you let them thaw first or put them together while still frozen? Hope that's not a dumb question.... icon_redface.gif

put together with icing in the middle, while frozen, and put in a central dowel
