Hi all- I'm new to cake decorating and to this site and I have what is probably a really stupid question - I love the ribbon and/or pearl look at the base of the cakes and wanted to know what you use to attach them in the back. Thanks.
i am new to this as well. i just used a little of the buttercream icing as glue for my ribbons. see my shell cake or purple floral.. did both that way.
I always use royal icing for sticking things to cakes or to 'glue' decorations together. It holds well and dries quickly.
For ribbon I put it on buttercreme before it crust over. For strings of pearls I put them in a buttercreme border before it crust over. I have several in my pictures. If you have any questions please let me know.
Just wanted to thank you all for responding to my post. Really helpful. It was my first post - wasn't sure what I was doing and was only able now to view your responses!
Live and learn. I am definately doing a lot of learning through this site. Just wanted you to know I appreciate it. ![]()
