Has anyone else been following this whole Paris Hilton thing? I just saw that she was ordered to go back to jail, despite whatever 'medical condition' she has that had allowed her to go home on house arrest. So now they showed her screaming for her mom and crying after the judge gave his decision.

I could not imagine someone like her ever having to survive on her own in the wilderness or something. She has to serve just over a month in an air conditioned jail that gives her 3 meals a day. All of our brave troops in Iraq have to sleep in the sh***iest conditions in a desert that's like a million degrees for months and months and months, and worry about getting shot.

I don't feel bad for her at all. (just the cynic in me today! icon_twisted.gif )

I was coming here just to post about this. lol

I'm sure it's tough going from a plush, pampered, spoiled rotten life to a cell block but sorry, I have no sympathy. You can't behave and do the crime - do the time. Joe Blow and Plain Jane don't get out because of "medical conditions" or because it would be too hard on them. Please! It's just not right that celebrities seem to have a separate judicial system. If it was any of us, we'd have no cameras and nobody pulling for our 45 day sentence to be cut in half. It's crazy because now she has to fulfill the entire sentence! She should've stayed put the first time.

Martha did it, so can Paris.

They alluded to this so-called medical condition being a "nervous breakdown". Well of course you'd be scared but it's not a reason to be let out (if that was indeed it). And that is not a true condition. There are mentally ill people in jail now, you should not get any special priveleges.

I guess it didn't help that I was never a fan of her. icon_lol.gif

Did you see the picture of her in the car? Oh boy. icon_rolleyes.gif

I've been watching too. I like train wrecks so I find all of the young celebrity set funny, they really aren't good at anything but posing for pictures and getting in trouble anyway.

The thing about her being so upset that I don't get is she's not with anyone in her cell so she's safe from getting beat up. I don't know anyone who likes the idea of going to jail so why should we be nicer to her.

I think everyone who gets caught doing what she did should have to serve time or have a fine based on income that will actually hurt, if I remember right Germany does this because a $100 fine won't hurt someone like Paris. I got upset when a friend's brother wasn't given much time on his third or fourth DUI, I don't dislike the brother or anything but even his family thought it might be good for him to get a longer sentence.

I agree with everything that's been said here. I hadn't heard that she was ordered back to jail. I think that's great! Too bad - deal with the consequences of your actions just like everyone else has to.

LOL... yeah, that picture in car is priceless. I worked in a jail for many years, and there were truly some people in there that I felt bad for. BUT, in all my time there, I can't remember a single person who was let out because of a medical or mental condition. If it was that serious, they were sent to a medical facility - NEVER to a personal residence.

I think all jails are required to have some sort of medical and mental help. I'm sure the jail that she is going to has a psychiatrist or psychologist as well as any 'medication' she may need to help her get through this aweful ordeal.

I think her, her parents, her attorney, and her psychologist might have had the whole thing planned. Go to jail for a few days.... have the doc come and say you're on the verge of a breakdown and they'll let you go on house arrest. Uhhhhhh forgot to factor in one pi**ed off judge.

Too bad....so sad icon_twisted.gificon_razz.gif

THere's nothing I can add to what's been said about the whole prostitution of our legal system. I will NOT be convinced that money wasn't a factor SOMEWHERE in this whole charade!

I haven't heard anything yet about the repercussions the sheriff rec'd for sending her home, just that the judge was threatening him with contempt of court.

I'm not a fan of her's either. To me she's a public embarrassment that we should shield our children from at all costs! I cannot believe that her parents actually stand back and say, "Oh, yes! We're SO proud of her!"

Take me with you. icon_lol.gif

It's just disgusting that she can cry and have a fit and the sheriff is like "ok, let's send her home". I'm with you Deb, money was involved somewhere.

And then she wanted to just "conference in" on the hearing today - the nerve!

Go straight to jail Paris, do not pass go, do not collect $200!

I agree ... Paris Hilton should do the time just like any other person out there who does it ... This morning my dh and I were watching the news and it showed a picture of her home talking about her being on house arrest and I said to my dh ... puh-lease ... the jail she is in probably is just like her home anyways .. spas ... pools ... maids, servants .. ugh ... I can't stand spoiled people! She just wants out to go party and be stupd again!

This is how pathetic of a world we live in,
We have troops overseas risking their lives, and all the media is focused about is HER???!?!

Ridiculous! She is only famous because of her name. I feel sorry for our children because they have
prima-donnas like her to "look up to" as role models....
She should get what she deserves. Sorry, her and Nicole Ritchie and the others get under my skin! icon_mad.gif

I can't agree more with everything that has been said about Paris. What a joke.

I heard a joke this morning. The reason the sheriff let Paris out early was the guards were tired of hearing her whinning and crying. icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Hubby just got home and had an interesting observation: When she went to jail the first time, she was nice and calm about it. Perhaps she knew the "fix was in"? But this time, she's crying like a baby ..... perhaps because she realizes this is for real .... No "fix is in" anymore.

Things that make ya go "Hmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!" icon_rolleyes.gif

indydebi - thats exactly what I was saying. DH & I were talking about it yesterday, and I would put money on it that her 'handlers' told her....'here's how we're gonna get you out of this, etc. etc.'. Now the reality is that they ticked the judge off and she's back to her 45 day sentence.

Jails and prisons are full of people with problems - medical, mental, and/or otherwise. The last thing I read is that they were saying that she suffers from claustrophobia. Who knows where the truth is - I think that she is just upset that mommy, daddy, lawyers, doctors, and $$$$$ can't get her out of this.

Here is her quote from the MTV awards right before she reported to jail:

"I did have a choice to go to a pay jail, but I declined because I feel like the media portrays me in a way that I'm not and that's why I wanted to go to county, to show that I can do it and I'm going to be treated like everyone else. I'm going to do the time, I'm going to do it the right way."

Maybe she needs to be reading her own statements.......

THis makes me so glad I have boys.

I did read something about what the sheriff said tonight and it included the little gem that she was "medicated" when she came in the first time with the implication that she couldn't get it in prison. Makes me wonder what kind of "medication" she couldn't get in the jail that she had been taking. icon_twisted.gif I've also seen at least one picture of her smoking home rolled cigarettes (maybe she was just broke and couldn't afford to buy a pack). icon_wink.gif

I was wondering when someone was going to post a thread about that train wreck named Paris!!! icon_lol.gif I agree with everything that has been said. I have no sympathy whatsoever for her, Nicole, or Lindsay. They are all messes, and they're the role models for young girls. How scary is that?! They have all lived such sheltered lives and have no concept of reality. I couldn't believe my eyes yesterday when all of the cable news channels were covering her trip back to jail! It looked just like the infamous OJ Bronco chase!!!!! icon_eek.gificon_surprised.gif Unbelievable. There are people dying for our country in the Middle East, and Paris Hilton is the breaking news story. It just makes me sad. Oh, and Debi ... I think you're so right about the money issue. I actually heard on one of the news stories that an inside source said that the Hiltons and their attorneys had been working on a money deal to get her out of jail early before she ever even went in. I believe it.

OK, off my soapbox now. Wow ... I guess I got a little carried away. icon_lol.gificon_redface.gif

I was all set to watch a show on MSNBC last night, when lo and behold, instead they dedicated the whole hour to the Paris Hilton Circus. I couldn't believe it! I have to admit that I did watch about 10 minutes (hey, everyone needs a good laugh), until I realized I was as bad as the idiots (media, etc.) that give her the undeserved attention she so desperately craves. I think she is just a waste of skin, and you could probably hear the ocean if you held her head up to your ear. I think I even read somewhere that she didn't graduate from high school. What is the fascination with her? I just don't get it...

What makes me mad about it all is that even though she's back in jail, she's in the "medical" ward which is cushier than her jail cell. And that sheriff is saying that he'll keep her there for the duration and do everything he can to take care of her. He seems to come from the standpoint that she doesn't deserve the harsh punishment and that she's being treated unfairly but when a judge hands down a sentence, I didn't think sheriffs could decide how fair it is and adjust it accordingly. She's definitely not finishing out her sentence the way the other prisoners are serving theirs. Someone on the radio mentioned today that it's costing around $1000 a day to house her in jail whereas the average inmate is closer to $100 a day. I'm betting that they're sedating her so she can sleep through the experience and just wake up none the wiser.

And what about her quotes to Barbara Walters about how she's been "pretending" to be dumb all of this time but it's not cute anymore so she's going to come out a different (smarter???) person and make a difference in the world. What a joke. I hope for her sake she is reformed and can find a purpose but I highly doubt it.

I don't know why I'm so fascinated by all of this, but I am. I didn't much care until she started ricocheting out of jail and back in and then it became a "fairness" issue in my mind and I just can't seem to let go when I think things are unfair.

I'm with you, Carol! I couldn't believe the things she said to Barbara Walters!! I agree that it is all so unfair. She is being treated differently just because she is Paris Hilton, and I think that is so wrong. That's why I'm fascinated with it, too.

What do you bet that her publicist gave her those lines to say to Walters or just gave a statement to Walters? There are people saying she's probably smarter than she acts but you don't have to be smart to get ahead, you just need to have good managers.

I have a friend who got a 6 year sentence and it was trumped by the judge to a 12 year sentence. He was an advocate for the AIDS victims and he had a group home for the victims. When one of them would die he would give the expensive medicine to another client. He got caught for distribuing medication without a prescription and got TWELVE years...for trying to HELP someone. After all this about Paris came out, I told him that he needed to change his name to David Hilton. I am sure he would have loved to sit out his 12 year sentence in his apartment, having his stylist come over and cut his hair and have cupcakes delivered to him. I am sure he would LOVE to be able to use a bathroom with WALLS!!

Just because of her name, she thinks she gets special treatment...I think NOT!!

And now Nicole Richie is laughing about going to jail at the end of the month for what was it? Reckless driving? She'll be laughing out the other side of her mouth when she goes to jail.

Do these people not realize that they could have KILLED someone with their actions? They would just want to pay them off for their loss and go on. It doesn't work like that, Sweetie!! Money doesn't buy everything!!

The whole thing pisses me off...but like someone else said, I am intrigued with it and follow it just to see what STUPID things she is doing next.

Barbara Walters acted like she literally felt sorry for her!! What was up with that?? GO, JOY...she was the only one that was voicing her opinion about how stupid Paris is acting!!

There won't be anything else on TV on June 25 except for the minute by minute coverage of her release!!

I agree with everything that was said. I couldn't stop smiling when I heard she was going to jail, couldn't believe it when she was sent home to house arrest, then the next day, back in jail. I think it really says something for the legal system. How many other prisoners get to go home for a day then back to jail cause they can't make up their minds?? The whole Paris thing is ridiculous, but the way the whole Paris thing was handled is even more ridiculous.

The only thing that gets me is when everyone compares her to "regular" people. She has never been a "regular" person and never will be. She does NOT deserve special treatment but you can not expect her to act like a "normal" person when she does not know what that is! The sheriff should be fired, HE let her out, she did not break out. Maybe money did it for him, who knows but he made a choice that was not his to make and should have consequences. I just wish they would stick to a sentence, she serves it and we all can go on with our lives!
Who know what celebrity will screw up next and make the next "Breaking News" story, sad. I am glad my life is not televised/photographed for everyone to see.

Shawskank Redemption icon_lol.gif

I bet she thought she was in for another "Simple Life" season when she headed to jail the first time. Then she realized this is for real - there are no camera crews to give her something if she needs it, no one following her to tell her how pretty she is, how silly, how "hot".
It's Paris' first season of "Real Life"
