I have the week from Hades ... it first began with my sister's son, my nephew, who is very ill and they cannot find the cause of his illness... it appears to be something wrong with his liver because he's extremely jaundice (yellow colored skin) but they're saying it isn't hepititus. In his line of work, he's been innoculated for this.... So they're bringing him to Houston, Texas for more extensive tests.... I stayed at the hospital with him Wednesday night after working a 10 hour day on my first job, going to my second job and teaching cake decorating classes, rushing home to take a wedding cake out of the freezer to begin thawing, packing my clothes and rushing up to the hospital ... I had to be to work the next morning at 7:00 a.m, then back to teach cake classes again BEFORE I could even start the wedding cake and a birthday cake that I'm doing for this weekend.... (deep breath).... the wedding cake is 4 tier, square from 12" up to 6"; stacked one on the other... well, I flipped the second layer of the 12" square on top of the other to which I had put some icing on the top... the cake slid, flipped crooked and when I tried to move it, it cracked right in half icon_cry.gif ... now I know better than to do it this way, but I was rushing and trying to get as much done before I lost what little energy I had left.... so I turned the oven on to bake another one ... , mix up the cake, get it in the oven, look at the clock and it's 10:15 p.m. .... now I'm going on 40+ hours of no sleep whatsoever, trying to at least crumb coat the wedding cake and the 2-tier, fondant covered Dora birthday cake that I have to get done, all by Saturday morning... I'm just utterly exhausted by this time and ready to just sit down and cry .. but I forge on ... I did manage to get the other tiers of the wedding cake all crumb coated and on their cake boards ... I didn't get to the Dora cake so that will wait until I get home tonight ... I have a feeling it's going to be an "all nighter" tonight and I managed to get 5 hours of sleep ... to top everything else off, my sister, who's son is sick, was to do the floral design on top of this wedding cake .. now I can do it, and I have in the past, but I just prefer her to do it for me and I love her moral support that she gives me when doing these cakes ... she also decorates cakes and can and does do all the floral designs on all the cakes of mine ...

The new 12" square cake is in my freezer, freezing nice and firm for me when I get home this evening... I refuse to break another one as I don't have a lot of time left to finish everything up... after delivering the cakes, I have to take off to Houston, Texas to be with my sister and her family ... then back here for Monday to work again ... Please pray for my sister and her family!! We need all the prayers we can!!

Thank you everyone... my nephew had surgery today.. he had his gall bladder removed today because they thought it was diseased; however, it wasn't... while in the surgery, the did a liver biopsy and we're hoping with that maybe they'll find what is wrong with him .. he's now in ICU and has been since last night when having too much diffuculty breathing .. he's only 26 years old!! Too young to be going through so much!! Thank you everyone again for remembering him in your prayers, we surely need them!!

Oh, my goodness, you and your family are in my prayers! And you just sit down and cry if you need to, sometimes that helps more than anything, to get it all out.
I hope everything works out for the best!

*Update*

Well the wedding cake finally got delivered.... much to my horror, the caterer had a silver square plateau there that had a huge dip in the center of it ... well I addressed that issue and put some reinforcement under the center of cake where my cake drum wasn't touching the plateau.. after I get my cake all assembled (4 tiers which I carried to the reception 2 bottom tiers together and top 2 tiers together) I noticed the cake appeared to be leaning, but yet it wasn't the cake .. it's the plateau!!! My daughter came with me to help me and thank goodness she noticed it was the plateau .. I was just about in tears when she said "Mom, it isn't the cake... it's the thing it's sitting on" and then she pointed out exactly where the problem was ... for some strange reason, the front leg must to have gotten bent and when they straightened it up, it was a little shorter on one side than the other.... so I slid a couple of pieces of cake board, which I always carry with me, underneath it and placed some extra roses the bride had around it so you wouldn't notice it under the leg/foot of the plateau... it was all nice and level after I finished with that icon_smile.gif ... I'm waiting on feedback from either the bride or her mother... I emailed but can't check it from work so it'll have to wait until I get home tonight icon_smile.gif

Well at least that's over and I'm sure the bride loved her cake. That caterer ought to know better though. icon_mad.gif

I'm praying for your family. I hope they will find out what is wrong with your nephew.

I hope you get some rest this week before you completely wear yourself out. Take care of yourself.
