I am doing a spiderman bust tomorrow and I am making the red icing now. I am using Americolor super red and some wilton no taste red and it still tastes bitter.EEK
Anyway to cut that?....Am I making it too red before it sits and darkens?...Or should I buy a can of wilton colormist to achieve this?
Help
Thanks Nancy
Do you have a place near you where you could purchase the powdered red coloring? If the flavor isnt an issue, you may be able to acheive the color with cherry koolaid mix. My other suggestion would be starting over (I know no one wants to do that) with only the non-taste color. I've only made red in fairly small amounts, never a whole big batch, but I've never had too much trouble. I did notice the koolaid colored red needed a little more red coloring added and turned out a little gritty. Maybe there's a way around that. Anyone?
Thanks for the help.I did remake the icing and started out by making a pink then going to red, slowy adding and tasting it. I might grab some red Kool Aid to add!
Although I assume the red will give it the fruity flavor. Sure the kids won't mind!
Thanks again!
Nancy
