First I am planning a housewarming cake. It will be a 12x18 sheet with a standing house cake on top. Does the house stand up well by itself? Would I be better off just laying it on as a second layer?
Second...Where can I find impression mats?? I have read about them here but what stores sell them? In what section? Thanks!
I'm not sure I understand about the standing house part.
Is it a 3d cake that could stand alone on it's own if you were only doing that cake? If so, just put a board under it the size of the cake, put dowels in the 12x18 to support the weight of the house cake and set the board with the house right on top of the dowels (like if you were doing a tiered cake like a wedding cake).
About the impression mats, I know they are available at a lot of online stores and some cake supply places stock them if you have one nearby. www.earlenescakes.com is a nice website but there are tons of others as well.
Just do a search of "impression mats" and I'm sure lots will pop up.
