Please help! I've been going crazy trying to figure out how to do a lace embroidery pattern on a cake. Saw one yesterday on a cake, thought I saved it to my favorites but its not there now. I have asked this question before so I'm a little embarrassed to post it again but I still haven't gotten any directions on how to do it. I attached a really bad pic, sorry it was taken with my cell phone camera. Would like to do something that looks like I embroidered the cake. The design is a little too much to pipe from memory free hand. Made a template thought I might do it in RI but then it wouldn't be strong enough to move after drying. Please please help! I'm not above begging or a bribe! Of course the bribe would only be in cake or maybe I could spring for a quarter if anyone has any good suggestions. TIA
I remember reading a post recently about how to embroider but after doing a search couldn't find it. It may have been comments on a cake in the gallery. Anyway, here's what I remember. She said she bought some lace she liked and then pressed it into the icing/fondant to get an impression. She then outlined the impression with I believe buttercream but could have been royal and took a brush and pulled the icing inwards to make the embroidered look. Hope this helps or at least jogs someone's memory on where the actual instructions can be found. The lace in your photo is beautiful!
If you have a piece of that particular lace, you can make your own silicone mold and use that with fondant to make lace pieces to be placed on the cake. Here is a link which shows you how to make your own silicone mold: http://www.culinart.net/silicone.html
If you do not have that lace, you can find one that looks close to it from these ready to use silicone molds:

That design looks like it is SCREAMING for Sugar Veil....... I have never used it, but as soon as I get a couple of bucks together, I'm going to order it and try it....... It stays flexible, so you could lay your sample down, put some plastic over it and follow the design, and then just lift it off after it sets.....
