I am doing a dummie cake for our county fair. I have made some sheep out of fondant to put on the cake. Can I use buttercream on the sheep for the wool or should I use something a little more stable like royal icing.

My suggestion would be to use royal because they never melt and can be done way ahead. I always do my animals out of royal icing.

You have to use royal because the fat in the
buttercream with break down the fondant.

i'd use royal simple because who know's how good the A/C -- if they even have it -- will be in the exhibit hall.
