Fondant Problems

I've only tried to make a fondant cake once and it didnt turn out very well. I used the premade wilton fondant and the consistency was not very good and the taste wasnt much better. Did I do something wrong or should I just make my own fondant from scratch? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

You didn't do anything wrong. Wilton fondant is great for practice, horrible to eat. Try using another fondant like Satin Ice or FondX (my fondant of choice). Or you can try making your own. There are several really good fondant recipes, but for a simple yet super yummy fondant the MMF is great. Here's the link:
