Yes, They are fully edible.
Not the tastiest of foods. Very bland, but good to use for butterflies.

I'd like to clarify that edible "rice paper" is also called "wafer paper" and comes in single and double thickness. It is a very stiff product and is basically the material used for religious communion hosts.

There is also a writing paper called rice paper that is very thin and although made from plant material, IT IS NOT EDIBLE!!!

Please be certain that you are using the proper one if you want edible decorations!

I have this rice paper that you use to print edible images on..I hate it..the images come out horrible on it. I don't want to throw it away, so I have been looking for ideas on how to use it up!!!

Can anyone tell me where to buy rice paper at? Do stores carry them like Michael's or Hobby Lobby or do you have to buy it online?

Thank you icon_smile.gif

Edible rice paper is available through cake supply stores.

Kake Kreations in Canoga Park, CA is 1 place I know of...I'm sure alot of the online cake stores carry it also.....

When I've used it I just lift it off before cutting unless it's already really soft...then guests can just peel it off like they peel off fondant all the time!!!

I made this cake using rice paper - I agree it is bland tasting but it looks good on the acke and there's no way I could have made this effect with icing.

The link I posted no longer points to the recipe. If anyone wants it let me know. The moderators consider it copywrited, so I can't post it. icon_sad.gif Thanks.
