I am just wondering if there is some kind of special tool out there that can help space ribbon on a cake. If you look at my picture, my cake looks lopsided because the ribbons are not spaced evenly around the cake. If someone could help me with my problem I would like to know so the next time I do a cake like this it will be a little bit easier.

You cake is lovely. I have only used one ribbon on the around the bottom of each tier. Hopefully some one will know the answer - cuz I would like to do a cake similar to yours.

if I do a fondant cake, I run the ribbon under the tap, then take out as much water as possible. just place it on the cake, this way you can still adjust the ribbon for quite a while before its dry. When dry it sticks like glue!

I have this tool from Kitbox Cutters from the U.K. It's called a side scribing/marking gauge. http://www.kitbox4sugarcraft.co.uk/shop//product_images/lph_cake_scribber.jpeg

It marks the sides of a fondant covered cake so you can place ribbons at the same height. I also use it for ribbon insertion.

I can't see the "lopsided"-ness you're talking about! It looks great to me!

I have too a strip of card board & mark the distance desired between the ribbons & taped toothpicks at the marks, so they stick out, just enough to poke into the icing, then go around cake every few inches & poke. then you have a guide to follow. A cheap way to do it. I too think your cake looks great. & the ribbon.
