i always have such grand ideas, but when i start to do them..not so hot icon_sad.gif

im working on a baby shower cake with a western look. its a 10 and 6 inch round stacked. my idea was to make a cowboy hat out of M MF and make a mmf baby sleeping on top of it..cute right? well, it was my first try at making figures, and the hat looks AWFUL! i made a couple horse shoes, but they are starting to crack. i plan on doing red and blue fondant stars on the sides of the cakes, with the babys name in fondant cut out letters on the bottom tier..what can i put on the top since my idea flopped??

If the face of the baby is salvagable, why to place the baby under a blanket on top of the hat. If the face is so-so, why not make a little cow hat for the baby's head to kind of hide under.

how much time do you have to play with the cake? is it just the hat you didn't like? you could fashion a rope out of fondant, i'd just tint it yellow, roll it out long and thin then coil it up, the baby could be on that or use it to rope a baby bottle or something.

I like the rope idea, or maybe you could do a saddle instead of a hat? I was even thinking a rocking horse...but that may be a lot.

I took this tutorial for making baby booties out of cupcakes and modified it. Stack two cupcakes on top each other in the back and carve alittle for 3D baby cowboy boots!

newtodecorating... Thanks for that site! That is WONDERFUL!

treys_girl... I love the idea that you had to begin with! Is there anyway for you to salvage the hat? Is it that bad, or are you like the rest of us here and just plain out hard on yourself and think that it is really worse then it is?

New to Decorating, Thanks for that. For those who don't know that is from Sugarcraft. If you click on Home and find the AOL chats. They are great to look at and there is so much on there. Lots of dec. tips and recipes. I am not a big fan of the service at Sugarcraft. But Dolores McCann has did a great job on the chats.

Oops sorry everyone-one glass of wine and I loose my mind dunce.gif OK another thing to add to the list, no drinking and driving, no drinking and talking to the mother in law on the phone, and no drinking and posting messages on the computer tapedshut.gif (Don't ask about the middle one! icon_eek.gif )

I should have mentioned Sugarcraft. It is a great informational site!
