I went to Michael's today. (I love that store.) I don't know if it's new or if I have just looked over it, but I saw Wilton had a ready to use gumpaste. Has anyone used this? I wanted to start experimenting with gumpaste and thought this might be a good place to start if it's good stuff. Thanks guys!

I like the Wilton ready-made gum paste. It will dry nice and hard very quickly and you can roll it out very thin.

I've talked to other decorators and the common complaint is that it is very dry right out of the package--one decorator was so baffled by this trait that she made gum glue out of the whole package icon_surprised.gif In order to make the gum paste ideally workable, you knead in small amounts of crisco--a pinch between your thumb and forefinger--until you're happy with the consistency. When it's right, it should pull apart easily but cleanly and not leave stretchy strands.

The price at Michael's and Joann's is comparable to other pre-made gum pastes. If you can use 40% off coupons, you're in great shape!
