Is it necessary to use the 1/2 butter, 1/2 shortening recipe for a FBCT? I would love to try it for my cousin's birthday cake, but it will not be able to be refrigerated all day, and I am worried it will melt or go bad here in sunny South Florida. Is it possible to use an all-shortening recipe for this?

Thanks! I love this website! It is my new addiction! icon_biggrin.gif

I use 1/2 and 1/2 but I think I have read that some people just use the all crisco and it has turned out fine.

sprgirl1978, I have a picture in my photos of a Winnie the pooh cake. I only used shortening and it worked fine. icon_biggrin.gif Winnie started to loose a little on his bootie but that was my fault. Putting it in the box i hit it with my nail. Otherwise it looks really good for doing this technique for the first time. I followed the directions that I found here in CC and they were wonderful. Very simple to follow step by step instructions.
