Where do you all buy fondant or gumpaste molds & cutters (like flower cutters)? I looked on Sugarcraft's site - but they all seem SOOO Expensive!!! I've looked one other place too and there molds were terribly expensive as well! What makes those things so darn expensive anyway?

So does anyone know of an "affordable" place that sells molds & cutters?

do you think that having these cutters makes a big difference for you? Is it worth the cost? I mean, do you use them often?

Imartsy,

In terms of moulds you could try using casting gel, I have some and have been using it a bit lately. It is foodsafe gel that you nuke in the microwave and place whatever shape you want to cast in it eg. you could buy small toy, ornaments etc from the discount shops (my friend has used it for shells and she makes beautiful realistic shells) and then let it set and then you just squish the fondant into the mould (you may need to tidy up some of the detail slightly if you didn't get all the airbubbles out). You can use the gel over and over again just re-melt it.
