I actually prefer decorating chocolate. (Because it is my fav!) What are using to decorate BC or MMF? The same basic rules apply. If you are using BC first crumb coat, then ice, and finally use a Viva Paper Towel to smooth.

I don't know if that helps or not. Let us know if you have a specific question. Here to help!

Thanks so much for your quick response. I am using butter cream icing. I bought some liquid stuff by wilton to make the cake come out easier from the pan. I am using a wilton dancing daisy flower pan.

Thanks,
Kim

Any other good hints I may need to know to get the cake out easier. Should I let it cool a little in the pan before I take it out and put it on my wire cooling rack?

I usually let mine cool in the pan 15-20 min. Then I put it onto the wire rack. It sounds like you are usuing Wilton's Cake Release. That will help a lot.

nursekim... I have that same stuff from Wilton to make the cake come out of the pan easily... since the first time that I used it, I will NEVER make a cake without it! It makes the cake FALL out of the pan, barely any crumbs. I have done it both ways where I leave it in the pan until it cools and I have also taken it out as soon as I get it out of the oven, to be honest, either way seems to be the same for me, other than it cools quicker once I get it out of the pan. I think that you will really like it! Good Luck.

Thanks again for your responses. I am making my daughter's birthday cake. It has been a couple of years since I made her a power puff girl cake that was my first decorative cake. This will be my 3 rd decorated cake I have made just recently. I made a father's day cake and 4th of July cake. I will have to learn how to post pictures and post them one day.

Thanks,
Kim

Good luck! Just try to remember to have fun, and no matter what you think of the cake, she will LOVE it, and the look on her face when she sees it with make all your work priceless!

I have a chocolate cake in my photos also. I'm not sure what the dancing daisy flower pan looks like though. I did cornelli lace on the sides. not hard at all. I usually let my cake cool in the pan for 10 mins then remove and place on a wire cooling rack until completely cooled. If you need more ideas on chocolate cake do a search in the galleries. you will find alot.

Goodluck.
