Please tell me someone here watches it!!!!!
I had to put my boys to bed so I paused the show with my dvr and I accidentally lost the last 15 or so minutes of the program when my hand hit the remote as I was reaching for something. Soooooooooooo, my tv went "live" and I couldn't get the rest of the show back.
Does anyone know what the "Guardian Angel" was that was created by the Fireman? Did he pass thru to the next round? I'm so mad that I lost the show!!! ARGH!!!!! ![]()
If anyone could let me know I would soooooooo appreciate it!
Amy
Ohhhh ... I love American Inventor!! I was so excited to watch it tonight! I'm sorry to hear about your dvr hiccup ... I hate when that happens!! ![]()

OK ... so the "Guardian Angel" was this concept that a firefighter (dad of 6 kids) had. He said that he was inspired to create this about 15 years ago when he saw a news story right around Christmas time, and the footage showed the dad running out of a house engulfed in flames (due to a dry live Christmas tree catching on fire), carrying his lifeless child in his arms (yes, I lost it at that point
), and he will never forget the look on the mom's face as she ran out behind the dad. ![]()

So he came up with this BRILLIANT idea ... picture a beautiful-looking wrapped "gift" under your live Christmas tree. Inside the "gift" is 2 gallons of water and a system (under pressure) that is connected to a hose (snaked up through the center of the tree, so you don't see it), which is connected to the "Guardian Angel" on top of the tree (really looks like an angel) ... under the dress of the "Angel" is a plug that is set to melt at 150 degrees (if the tree catches on fire), which will trigger the system ("Gift" box under the tree) to flood the tree with the 2 gallons of water, pushing the heat from the fire towards the ceiling, thus setting off the smoke detectors in the house (and taming the fire) and alerting everyone of the fire so they can all get out of the house safely.
I hope that makes sense. He only had a drawing of his invention, and said that he doesn't have a lot of money (being a firefighter and father of 6 kids), and now he needs investors (i.e., the $50,000 from A.I.) to bring his invention to life. He also showed a very powerful video of a dry Christmas tree completely engulfing in flames in just a matter of seconds (the entire room was in flames in 15 seconds!!!! ![]()
).
Three of the judges (George Foreman, Peter Jones, and the woman ... can't remember her name ... Debbie, maybe?) said "YES, YES, YES", and the 4th judge (the guy on the far right ... the owner of the Philadelphia 76ers) said "NO". ![]()
But all he needed was 3 yes's to get through, so he made it through to the next round!!! YAY!! ![]()
Geez ... sorry this ended up being so LENGTHY ... ![]()

WOW!!!
I did see the video of the Christmas tree burning up but that's the point in which I lost the show.
I am so glad that he passed to the next round. His invention is very creative indeed!!
I can not believe the last guy said NO!!! What in the world?!?!?!?!
Can't wait to see the next round!
Thank you so much for replying!
Amy
Debi ... I can't remember whether Indianapolis is in Eastern or Central time zone (aren't you one of only a couple cities that never switches for DST, or something like that?), but ... American Inventor is on Wednesdays at 9 EST, 8 CST, on ABC. ![]()
Amy ... glad I could help!
I also couldn't believe the last judge said no! ![]()
I mean, I can't think of a much greater invention than this one!!!
KNowing it's Wed on ABC will get me there! Thanks all!
(Indiana just voted last year to switch to Savings Time. It's still somewhat controversial. I don't care one way or the other ... I just wish people would stop talking and arguing about it! Shut the he** up and move on!)
LOL Debi! It's funny that it's such a big deal! It's just an hour!!! ![]()
