Hi,
can someone please give me tips on how to do the gumpast bows??? I keep trying but mine never look as good as the ones I see here. I cut 2 stips of mmf out then pinch the ends, each then pinch both together. Then I let them dry on their sides then try to put it together w/ a piece in the middle. However, whenever I do the pinching it never has that pretty crease like bows do and then I have a very big and thick end. Then when I put the bow togther it just doesn't look pretty. The bows has no pretty creases and tends to droop....it's just pathetic so any tips and help would be great.

Note: I have looked at the how to make a gumpaste bow over and over and just wish mine would look like that but no such luck.

Pure MMF will be too soft to make a bow. Mix some gumpaste in or do the bow in all gumpaste so it will retain the shape better and dry faster.

Practice making the crease. The bows do not dry right away so you have some playtime. If it doesn't look right to you the first time, knead it and do it again.

I would use pure gumpaste if you can. If you find that it dries too fast for you, mix fondant with at least 50% gumpaste.

I make mine a little differently than you do. I make a long strip, bring one end into the center, then bring the opposite end into the center, lightly glue the under side of the ends with gum glue, pinch in the center and make a center knot of a small loop of gumpaste, glue one end of the loop under and then the other end under.
Or, for a larger bow I make the strips quite wide, then pleat them a bit from the narrow side before bringing the ends into the center.
Either way, on the large ones I open up the loops and wad up paper toweling to hold them open until they are dry. On the smaller ones I prop the loops open with small pieces of soft foam rubber. If you don't want the bows to lay flat when dry, prop the ends of the loop up against somethng like a glass or a heavy cereal bowl to elevate them a bit while they dry.
