This is amazing.

I have had a refurbished K6 for about 5 years. It started getting loose to the point that the beater rubs on the bowl, and we haven't been able to fix it. I finally went and got a new one this week because I needed to finish a cake....

Well, I set my old one on a different counter and thought I don't want to throw it OUT; maybe there's something I can do with it, get it to work "sort of" or whatever...There on the back of it was an 800 number for Kitchenaid, and I thought, "Well, it's totally out of warranty, but hey--what can it hurt? I'll call and see if maybe I can ship it in and have them fix it for whatever outrageous fee..."

So I called them and told them my situation. The guy immediately just said, "Well, we don't make that type of machine any more, so we wouldn't be able to fix that one for you. So what we're going to do is send you a new (refurbished) one, in a larger upgraded size." icon_eek.gif what? icon_eek.gificon_eek.gificon_eek.gifthumbs_up.gif

Well, of course I was not about to say no. But (to his surprise) I did ask if he could send me, actually, a smaller one...I have long wished for the Artisan model (K5) that can use a 5, 4-1/2, and 3-qt bowl. So he asked me what color I wanted, and I told him, and it will be here in 7-10 days, and I'll box up my old dead one and send it back in the box from my new K6 that is still in the garage... icon_biggrin.gificon_lol.gifthumbs_up.gif

Can you believe that???

Of course, now I'm thinking...why didn't I call him 2 weeks ago???? Then I could have gotten a new K6 without BUYING one. But now I'll have my Ultimate Wish, which is TWO mixers.

So, here's to Kitchenaid customer service. YOU ROCK!

from a super happy cook...

I'm right there with you! I got a new 5 qt. one in April and made my first batch of MMF in it and I think that started the killing process, then I had the same issue with the paddle hitting the side of the bowl and not clearing the bottom of the bowl. I called them and they sent me a brand new one. I called them on Saturday and I had my new one on Tuesday! KA IS AWESOME!
