Hello everybody,
I will be doing my first 3-d character pan cake and have few questions as to how to handle this cake.

1. What kind of cake is best suited?
2. Can I torte it and fill the cake? If yes, any special instructions that I need to keep in mind.
3. What kind of cake board do I need to use. Do I have to cut it as per the car shape?
4. How many servings can I get from this can pan?
5. If I'm using it as an stacked cake( have a 10 inch round cake as base and then stack the NASCAR on top) do I have to handle the same way as any other stacked cake? Do I need to dowel it?

I'm sorry for so many questions...but need to clarify my doubts before I attempt this kind of cake.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Well, for Wilton pans you want to use a firmer cake. I use the box mixes with the extender without any problems.

As for torting, I personally so not for character/shape pans. There are just too many risks for me, plus it can distort the shape. I would just stick to torting the 10" on bottom.

I jsut use a regular square or circle cake board.

Servings: I am not sure of the size, but I would think at least 16. Some are 20, but I think that is a smaller pan.

I would just have a cake board under the car. But if it is really heavy, you might want to throw in a few dowels for safety.

Thank you so much stephanie for answering all my questions.

One more icon_smile.gif.... how much would you charge for it? ( If its just the car as a cake)

Thanks!
