I want to put Magenta colors ribbon at the bottom of the wedding cake. What kind of material would be best that won't soak up any oil from the frost?

Carol,
there are a few ways to do it..............I bought just a satin ribbon from Michaels, soaked it in Pam, so it was already "greased", then "glued" it onto the buttercream iced cake with fresh bc........some people iron wax paper (not sure how it's done), and some use double sided tape.........

Ditto to what Kerri said. Wanted to add that I bought some of the ribbon with wire in it. BIG mistake. I had a horrible time getting it to lay flat against the cake. I'd steer clear of it!

I have ironed wax paper on the back & it works well. Also I don't put the ribbon on until right before I deliver it. Your icing should have a crust by then. As far as using a wired ribbon, after you cut the size you need around cake just pull the wire out. & its good to go!

I have used "double satin" ribbon before. Both sides feel satiny. It was white on white though so I don't know if having a color would make a difference.
