Any ideas or suggestions for a cake celebrating menopause? A woman very close to me needs a positive approach to the subject. Thanks for any help! This would either be a cheer-up cake the next time I see her, or I'd take ideas for her 50th birthday next month. Thanks!

How about using the character Maxine? IMO, her sayings are too funny and perfect for menopausal woman. I should know icon_razz.gif Here's a few for inspiration. http://images.google.com/images?q=maxine&hl=en

Can't wait to see your cake.

My Mommy & Pops bought a coffe mug for me a few years back when I started ..THE SYMPTOMS.. It has this saying on it....

MENopause

MENstrual cramps

MENtal illness

Ever notice that most of our troubles begin with MEN?

I get a chuckle every month when I reach for that cup, because it reminds me to keep my humor, for this too shall pass.
Maybe using this saying with decor that she likes would bring her some cheer.

My mom has a sign that hangs in her bathroom that says "I'm menopausal and I have a handgun....any questions?"

If she doesn't want humor how about just some nice bright flowers and something about growing and moving onto another phase in life?

an image from my mom's change of life:

time: dead of winter.

place: mom's bedroom

scene: her standing in front of open widow, with the snow blowing in.

dialogue: It's hot in here--I'm burning up

( i kid you not!!!!)

you could make it look like a fan or an ice cube for the hot flashes and night sweats..

I've also heard the saying: They're not hot flashes, they're power surges!

Well? Aren't you going to tell us?
(I'm doing Maxine on Friday for a woman who has a list of ailments a mile long.)

I think I'll just do one cake, her birthday. And I think I'm going for simple and nice--some fresh flowers and maybe a gardening theme (she's a big gardener). I'm definitely going to make her a humorous card though. Most likely a combination of Maxine and the "MENopause, MENstral cramps, MENtal Illnes" suggestion.

Doug, I think we had some similiar scenes last winter.

Thanks again. I'll post a picture when it's done.
