Help With Royal Icing Flowers

HI I have a few questions about royal icing as we I used it for the first time yesterday. I have made the flowers and I have lfet them out to dry. Now when they are dry how do I store them....in an air tight containter? can I put them in the freezer? and when I make my cake usine butter cream icing when I place the flowers on the cake will it melt the icing. Thanks for your help Jen

I store mine in an airtight container away from direct light, as this will fade the colors. I've never had a problem with any melting when put on BC. Good luck and post some pics!!

Royal icing decorations should be stored in air tight containers. Do not store them near sunlight or a hot area (I keep mine in my basement - it's a dry cellar). They can be kept for a VERY long time if stored properly. I've got a couple items that I've had for almost a year. I'm a Wilton instructor and I have some demo flowers I show the students. Do not freeze the decorations. I'm sure you were told that moisture is royals worst enemy and if you freeze them and take them out to thaw - they'll turn to mush. The nice things is that you can freeze the royal icing. I've tried it and it works very nicely - the only thing is that you do have to beat the icing again for a minute or two before you use it after it's thawed.
