I am doing another graduation cake and I wanted to have 2007 sticking up on wires. Each number on a separate wire. Can someone point me in the right direction please?
thx
Hi, just cut out the numbers you want twice of fondant (or gumpaste, i usually use fondant with tylose but that´s almost the same as gumpaste..). Take a wire, measure how long you want them and make a little hook at the end to put between the letters, which you stick together with a little edible glue (or whatever you girls in the US use
). I always put the wires in a straw (i don't know if this is the right word, the thing you put in a glass to drink from...
), so that they won't carve or break your cake when you put them in.
Goodluck!! ![]()
Thanks. Great idea about the straw (yes right word
) Going to try it now!!

The pp did a great job explaining how to do it. I just wanted to add a link is all=) It shows how to put stars on wires, and has pictures. If you are like me, pictures help out a ton=) Jen

NewBeeBaker, when I click the link I do not get any photos showing how to put stars on wires. The tutorials I click on from the left side of the page show general ways to use Satin Ice. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks so much in advance for finding "pictures" of how to do this technique--I am a very visual person also! ![]()
