Has anyone ever made the Cake Doctors Red Velvet recipe? Has anyone tried the DH Red Velvet mix vs. from scratch? Need opinions. I have a grooms cake on Saturday, and my from scratch red velvet baker has a new granddaughter (my new niece too icon_biggrin.gif ), and I don't want to impose on her for help. I have attempted her recipe before, but just can't get it quite right. Appreciate the help! icon_smile.gif

Hi charman- this is the recipe that I use. I love this recipe and it is easy as 123.

I like the scratch recipes for the Red Velvet cake. I think there is a odd taste to the boxed one.

That posted recipe is the Red Velvet cake recipe that I have used for some time now...As a former resident of Brooklyn, NY Raven is almost a household name down there. It's by far the best Red Velvet Recipe I have used...

The Cake's Doctor's recipe called for German Chocolate Cake Mix with pudding in the mix...add sour cream and red food coloring...otherwise same ingredients. I'm going to give it a try tonight...will let you know how they turn out.
