Hello Friends!!!! I am hoping you guys can help me with some ideas. My third grade daughter has asked me to bring something in for their year end chorus club celebration. I had posted a few weeks ago, but did not get many responses. So I am hoping this time all you musically inclined decorators out there can help me out. It is for Friday, which only gives me today and tomorrow. It's for about 60 students. I really want to WOW the kids with something clever and unique. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!!!! icon_smile.gificon_smile.gificon_smile.gif

Are you wanting an actual cake or cupcakes? I've seen some beautiful cakes on this site that are decorated with a music staff.

Do a gallery search under "music" or "piano", etc....you'll come up with tons of pictures for ideas!! one of my favorites is a two or three teired cake with piano keys swirled down around the whole cake with a hot pink trim....beautiful cake!! I've attached the picture. goodluck and post a pic when you're done!!

I am a musician and I am here to help!! icon_wink.gif There are several things you can do whether it be a cookie or cupcake. Each one can be a different musical symbol (ex. G clef, Bass clef, sharp, flat, staff, natural, alto clef, repeat sign, various dynamics) or composer names would work. If you are really good, you could put pictures of different musical instruments (although that isn't really chorus related). Another idea is get a list of everyone's name and put it on the cupcake/cookie with a single symbol (or their voice range)- so, Laura may have a sharp on hers (or it can say soprano) and Danny may have a G clef (or say tenor).

The only other wow factor I can think of would be with edible images on a cookie and you could print the pictures of different composers.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions. Great ideas, I just need to narrow it down to either a cake or cookies. I was even thinking of doing a cake with mini kit-kats as piano keys. Has anyone seen something like that? Any pictures would really help. TIA

Love the idea using the mini Kit Kats for piano keys. I haven't seen it but if you find one let us know.

Sorry I can't really help but her is a BUMP for you.

The only thing that popped into my mind...How about a large sheet cake, deco the bottom half like piano keys and the top half put an edible image of the whole chorus club along with some music notes made with icing.

This is a different take on this, but the kids seem to be into this High School Musical Show....its on Disney Channel...is that too young for these kids?
But, they have a cute website (High School Musical) you can get some great pics. and downloads to that I am going to place on a cake. It has the celebs. pics. and stuff. on there. But its all about music. Maybe they'd like that? Take a look at it.

How about adding solfege on the cake. That is usually what singers use to practice without using the actual words. DO-RE-MI-FA-SOL-LA-TI-DO. This represents every note of a sung scale.

Thank you all for your suggestions. At the end I made these cupcakes and to make them a little different I went for the "cc tower" look. Sorry pics are a bit blurry. The kids enjoyed them. Thanks again!!!

OH "rhesp1212" that's my cake ;-0
It was the 1st cake I had even entered in a contest and placed 2nd! The theme was around the local mall. It had to be about the "music" a-i "Music City Mall" or them celebrating their 10th Anniversary.
It was covered in MMF with BC decorations. This pic was taken after the contest when I got it back home after dragging it all around the mall on a very hot summer day. That's why it looks kinda saggy. Thanks Valerie for the compliment and Good Luck noosie with the musical cake icon_smile.gif
