Hi All,
I would like to try a crusting buttercream for a handbag cake that I am doing next week but am at a slight loss about how to do it with Uk ingredients and also what proportions you use (eg we don't have butter sticks and measure everything in oz or g). Can anyone help me as we are so far behind you guys with all your lovely toppings etc!
Thanks, Jenny

Hi Jenny,

One stick of butter is 8 tablespoons(or 1/2 cup) and is the same as 4 ounces ( or 113 grams)

If you need any other measurement conversions, check out this website:

http://www.pastryscoop.com/member/liu_butter.html

You have to sign in, but it is a free site. It gives conversions for butter, eggs, dairy, sugar, flour, etc.

Hope this helps!

hi i'm from london, and we have most of the products they have in the us but either with different names or you would usually find them in sugarcraft shops. if you want to make your buttercream crust i think you add a few tablespoons of meringue powder (egg white powder) which you can find in any supermarket.
