Hi everyone !!! icon_biggrin.gif
I was wondering which is easier to cover in fondant, a square cake or a round one? I don't have alot of experience with fondant , so I thought of asking you guys. Also has any one used pastry pride instead of buttercream under the fondant?
Thanks in advance icon_biggrin.gif

Rounds will be easier to cover in fondant than squares imho.

I think round is easier! I've never used pastry pride so I can't help you there!!

Round is much easier to cover in fondant. I've never tried pastry pride either.

Round because you don't have to fight with getting the nice corners like you do on a square cake.

I don't believe you can use Pastry pride under the fondant. It breaks down.

I also would say in the beginning that round is easier. I would not use the pastry pride, it will probably melt the fondant. I am also on a Dutch cakeforum (yeah it is starting to boom over here in Holland!! icon_smile.gif ) and there this is a hot topic, what will melt your fondant and what will not icon_wink.gif I would just go for the BC maybe it you don´t like the taste put some nice flavour in it (I love Nutella icon_biggrin.gif ) but probably here on this huge forum thumbs_up.gif there will be lots of suggestions for nice flavours.

Goodluck with your cakedecorating and if it doesn't go easy in the beginning, don't worry if will improve really fast (just make a lot of cakes! icon_biggrin.gif )

I don't know if you have seen this yet or not. But another CC member linked this on a post a bit ago. It has links to videos that show how to cover a cake in fondant. Really helpful=) I have it saved to favorites! Jen
