Well, as some of you know.. I have a weight issue.. I'm 5'2 and weigh in a 183lbs. I don't look huge but I'm most certainly not small. I don't have a huge problem with it, I just know that for health purposes I really need to loose some of it. I KNOW for a fact a majority of it is stress... I don't sit down and eat junk food, I don't eat all of the time ...none of that.. It's the opposite, I work 3 jobs, my son has me on the go all of the time If and WHEN I do sit I fall asleep because it's usually 10pm and I'm so tired I cant stand it.

Soooo I've tried to loose weight, I started running.. oh.. about a month and 1/2 ago and was doing really well. Then I started getting this terrible nusea (sp) feeling everytime I ate, everytime I ran... PLUS the heat and humidity have been TERRIBLE!! (i don't do well in the heat) So needless to say.. I havent ran in about one week.. (been to the doc's they thought I had a gallbladder problem..everything looks GREAT) Now been diagnosed w/some acidy relfux thingy (forgot name, have to go back in 2weeks)(been put on protonex) So anyway.. the boyfriend's best friend is one of my doc's who's been training the bf and has been talking to me re:exercise and such.. He just called me (doc) and ripped me apart cause the bf told him I quit running!! icon_eek.gif

I am sooo mad I can't stand it, CAUSE ITS NOT TRUE!!! I'm like WHAT icon_eek.gif noo.. I haven't been feeling well, I said; did he tell you that I've been to the doc's?? He's like ya.. for some acid reflux thing.. it's no reason to quit running and as your doctor I'm telling you that quitting is the worst thing you can do. WHAT??? icon_eek.gif

The BF is DEAD MEAT!!! First of all I know he didn't say anything to bust my chops, he probably was NON-chalant about it..but there was no reason for that... UGH!!!!!!!!!! I almost started crying on the phone cause I was sooo mad...

UGH!! Ok thanks everyone for letting me vent cause I know if I talked to the bf first it would'nt be pretty... I don't get out of work for another hour so hopefully I will be past it ...

thanks
b

Soo sorry (HUGS) Hope you don't let it get to you. I can understand what your going through though. I was diagnosed with High Acidity in my stomach almost 6 years ago. But it was about a year or two before it was a well known problem (as Acid Reflux) so all my symptoms I was saying I was having was just confusing the doctors, what really set it off was eating Fried foods or Meat with fat (so no steak icon_cry.gif ). I had some test that were pretty unpleasent b/c no one could tell me what it was. I understand it is pretty crappy.

Mine was set off by Stress, so I now take 1/2 of a zoloft when I get into stressful situations in my life. It is just enough that it balances out my system and makes a HUGE difference.

Please don't let this bother you (i know it isn't easy)
Things will get better, and it sounds like you want to make a difference in your life style. We know you'll get back on track when you feel better.

Sending a hundred hugs your way.

Dont worry...it wont go back on.

By the way...the Doc is wrong too. He should not have been discussing your medical treatment or any other aspect of your health with the BF (Butt Fart?).
It's a HIPPA Violation. Big time trouble for him. Let him know your pissed. Heck, just let him read this thread...the discussion of "Premeditated Murder" should be enough to sway him.

I'm sure the meathead, I mean boyfriend icon_wink.gif didn't mean it to get you in the hot seat. Frankly what I don't get is why the doc is calling you and *yelling* at you for not running. It's been too hot and the reflux should be the main concern right now. Any doc will tell you if something in your life is causing complications, you should stop but still discuss--and not yell about it(dr)--it with your doc.

Can you invest in a used treadmill or buy one new, exercise slowly in the house? There are other activities/exercises (swimming would be great) to try to keep the routine in place.

Don't be upset over this, not worth the stress.

My first thought was what Doug mentioned--why is the doctor discussing your health with someone else? Secondly, there have been articles published lately about "lack of sleep being linked to weight gain." It does something to the hormone system. It might be worth looking into and having the meathead icon_razz.gif help you take care of household things so you can get some sleep. Your schedule sounds very hectic.

Well, bo, I hope you feel better about venting!

And, please let us know when you'll be having chopped bf stew, lol!

That acid reflux is a bad thing, yuck! I do hope you feel better.

I have a treadmill...can't seem to get on it, it's SOOOOOO boring!!!!! I wish I could move things around to where I could watch tv while I'm on it, but it's just not possible....I could watch tv if I constantly keep my head turned to the right...OUCH!

Anyways, good Luck! Let us know what the doc says in 2 weeks!

I hope you feel better soon!!!!!

Thanks everyone.. I really appreciate all of the support!!! Needless to say I let the "buttfart" icon_wink.gif ..I mean BF have it. And boy he got an earful. It's funny cause the "doc" friend is one of my doc's but (I can't believe I'm telling you this.... ) icon_redface.gif He's my female doc icon_eek.gif I know him personally (yup kinda awkard)(I work p/t for him too at his gym).

I guess he was asking the bf how I was doing and blah blah and the goofball bf was like oooohh she hasn't been feeling well and yadda yadda!!! So I know he didn't mean to get me "spoken" too but what a nut. They say women have dirrhea (sP? ..we really need spell checker) of the mouth, but I think men do too!!

I'm sorry you're upset. Men can be such dorks, and you get two of them together talking, who knows what they'll wnd up talking about, especially when a woman is involved. I'm not sure if I would be more upset with the bf or the doctor!

bodaisy,

I too am short...5' to be exact. While I am not heavy now,I used to be.After I had my kids I had a really hard time losing weight. At my heaviest when I was pregnant I weighed 180lbs.I had the acid reflux thingy all through both pregnancies and chalked it up to pregnancy.5 months after my daughter was born I was rushed into the hospital for emergency Gall Bladder surgery.Apparently it is quite common at my age which was 33 then for woman to have thier Gall bladders out after having children.Go figure!! I literally thought I was going to die.Childbirth didn't even come close to the pain.I would go and get a second opinion...Have it looked at again because the last thing you want to have happen is a ruptured Gall Bladder...it can kill you!!.As for losing the weight...I did weight watchers. It was a tough haul but it did lose 25 lbs and kept it off. With your schedule your body is being fooled into believing that you are in a starvation mode so it is storing the fat and your Metabolism gets confused. You need to change your eating times and take time to eat little meals snacks even if you are on the run.You will notice a difference!! Hope this helps!!

the doc thing dosent bother me as he wasn't in "doc" mode at the time.. he was in friend mode and he truly was just asking as a bf's friend... it just irritated me that the bf had to say anything at all.. He knows how exercise happy the friend is.. WHERE I am soooo NOT exercise happy!!

thanks everyone.. all of the support is wonderful.

as for the gallbladder..it was a percaution thing cause my pain wasn't where it was supposed to be, but they had to rule the gallbladder out for sure.

the acid feeling is horrendous!!! UGH!! it's just brutal, but since I've been on medicine it's been WONDERFUL.... thumbs_up.gif so let's keep our fingers crossed. I've been living w/the acid for a few years now, but have been ignoring it cause I hate going to the doctor's for anything..

Bodaisy...I'm glad you finally got this worked out. Waiting on acid reflux issues is a bad thing. Your esophogus can get burned and ruined and it can also affect your throat. I knew someone who had acid reflux disease so bad that she had to have surgery done on her throat to repair her larynx and stuff.
Anything stomach acid related should not be ignored...
Last week I burned my esphogus by puking up some stomach bile (I was drying heaving so hard my stomach was determined to puke something up.) It hurt so bad to swallow! Not to mention the reflux that came with it. I took some prilosec OTC and that really helped clear things up. But trust me when I say if it didn't..I would have gone to see my doc.
I noticed one thing that helped with my reflux was changing the amount of food I ate and when. If I eat a HUGE dinner, my reflux will act up when I go to bed. But since I eat small meals now I don't have problems. But this doesn't work for everyone.

My question still remains, though, why is he so upset you stopped running? When there is a valid reason behind it, you have to stop. The friend thing between the doc and the bf, I can see that...

he's a wicked nice guy.. but VERY exercise crazy (doc). very healthy blah, blah. from what the bf and I discussed this morning (long after the blow out) was that he wanted to be sure I didn't give up after working so hard. But that's NOT how I took it. I was very upset thinking they were talking about me behind my back.. due to the fact I'm very self-conscience about my weight. I'm always assuming people are talking about me..

i'm a weird one.. especially if i have a flaw..

My personal opinion? Ya need a good date. Yep, that's medical advice, as well as mom advice. Weight gain can be caused by stress and lack of sleep, as already said. Sexual intimacy is good for weight loss, not just the act but the chemicals that relieve stress. A date will also help you feel good about yourself, and your BF, which will also help the weight.

I started at 5'4" and 178 lbs. Lost a good bit just following that advice. I recently started on SlimQuick (that's another post) and it's also helping. A woman's body is sooooo different than a man's, and exercise and diet won't do much with high stress levels.

Good luck to you!
