I had 2 ladies call to book a wedding on the 30th. When the second mob called, I told her I had a tentative one scheduled (I only do one per week). She asked if I could call her back on the 8th to let her know if the date was still available, so I said sure. I have not heard back from the first mob, so would it be appropriate to call her to confirm the date?

i say definitely! just tell her that you have another request for her date, nad if she still wants it you need her deposit by such and such date. she has to understand that you need to schedule your time.

I am up front with brides about how I schedule. I only do one wedding per weekend, and the first one to pay the deposit gets the date. That way I don't get people wasting my time until the last minute only to say they are going to get their cake elsewhere. I would give a call to the first one and tell her that date is in high demand and that she is competing for your time. If she really wants you , she will call back asap. Good luck!

Did you tell the first MOB that if you received another call before her confirmation was made that the date may be booked when she calls? If not then I say to give her a friendly reminder. Call and tell her you have another bride interested in the date and you will need to hear from her (and have her deposit) by the 7th at (pick anytime at night) If you do not hear from her then you will open up the date of the wedding to the other bride who is interested in your services.

This lets her know that you will not be waiting around for her business and that you really do care and want to try to accomidate her.

I would say that the first one to pay the deposit gets the date! And both ladies will appreciate that you value your time and their's as well.

Thank you so much for your responses. I wasn't sure if it would be tactless for me to call the first mob back. As it is late tonight, I will call in the morning and let her know she has until 6pm on the 7th to make a decision. Thanks again for the help. You guys are great!

I was getting ready to call the first mob, when she called and confirmed.

Glad it worked out! Mabey the other bride can still have you do a shower cake or something!

I'm glad the first mob called you back. I really don't like making phone calls I much prefer when they call me.
