I have been asked to do a bridal shower cake for my friend's sister. This girl is always wearing the latest fashions, driving the coolest car, and basically anything new on the market she has to have. So my friend asked me to do the cake for the shower. The only info I was given that its a pink wedding shower and to do "the newest style" of a cake I could find. She first had asked me to do miniature wedding cakes placed on upside down wine glasses. I had another cake order that weekend and wasn't able to do it all. She ended up moving the shower to a different date. But I am clueless as to what I will do for her. Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!! Oh, and they only like buttercream icing, but I can accent with fondant if I need to.

I think a "present" cake - iced with different shades of pink would be pretty........or a whimsical cake with different pink shades..........pink and brown are also the new color combo- I have a Wedding Cake in my photos with it! Good Luck!

I keep thinking like a whimsical cake maybe? make it a little bit funky but elegant too....you could definitely do that with buttercream & fondant accents

How about just giving her all of the ingredients and let her have a go at baking her own cake the way she wants it. that way she won't be disappointed. ??????????????

I'd check out some of the top cake artist's websites to see what styles they are doing - maybe something will inspire you to design a very trendy cake icon_smile.gif

a cupcake tower is au curant...so what about cupcakes w/ tops like these:

large button from this site's page of monogramed gifts (scroll to middle of page for lots more design options)

doug, you are amazing!! Thanks everyone for all the advice. I think I have found something they will love here in the galleries. I need to go back and catch the name. But it was done for a girls first communion. A pillow cake on top of two boxes with open lids. Now I just need to find the "how to" of all of this!! Wish me luck!!!!!!

since it was moved to another date, can you now do the mini cakes on wine glasses? I saw that in a magazine and it looked really cool. If not, what if you did something like a square tiered cake covered in pink fondant with a brown satin ribbon along the bottom, or decorations in brown?

Here's a great that may help...

They have some great cakes that you could do in pink or shades of pink that are very "haute couture".

yeah pink/brown color combos are definitely "in" right now. as well as polka dots and stripes. so if you did a topsy turvy cake you could use those patterns on the different tiers. (not original but hey). whatever you do keep it simple. IMO that's always the best look especially for wedding showers.

the pink/brown floral pattern from doug's search is cute too!

when i need patterns for color combos i always go to scrapbook stores for inspiration.

HTH!
