I have a wedding and a 2-cake graduation for this weekend, and the little clip that holds the mixer bowl down just snapped in two!

Now, I have to stand there and actually hold the bowl down while it's mixing!!

arrrrggghh!!!!!! icon_cry.gificon_mad.gif

The nearest service center to me is 2 hours away and will take way to long to have it shipped here by....like....say....NOW.

Wish me luck - and i thought it was going to be an easy week. icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

ooh! i had that happen to me! I have the 5qt kitchen aid, it happened about a year ago and I still use it. I only have to hold the bowl when mixing bread dough or cream cheese icing or something... but for when i DO, I found something GREAT! At my local safeway they had a thing in the gardening section that is for attaching tall plats to their stakes, its basically a roll of green velcro that is about 1/3" wide. I wrap that all the way around the bowl and stand tightly and it holds like a charm. The night it happened to me tho, I stapled a square of velcro to some extra ribbon and made a similar thing.

(and I did do a search online and that little tiny stupid part for my model isn't being made anymore and its to worth buying a new one)

Sorry to hear that happened to you. But since you have such a busy weekend planned, is it possible to borrow someone's KA just for this week? Something to think about.

Good luck with your orders!

Oh that stinks!!!

Well, are you making any money from these cakes? Maybe you could invest in a new one?

Good luck!! icon_biggrin.gif

I tried looking for the part online and can't find it. My mixer is only about 7 years old.

I'll call customer support today - and waste a lot of time holding onto the bowl in the meantime!

I wanted to buy some Bose earbud headphones with my cake money this week, darn it.

look on the bright side...the mixer is still working. You could be mixing up 50 batches of cake and icing by HAND!!! icon_biggrin.gif

That's gonna make for a hectic week, eh? Sorry to hear your mixer has issues. I listen to mine scream at me daily....just knowing that when it happens, and I don't think it's too far off when it will, it'll happen to all 3 at once.

Yeah, mine screams also....that's probably not good. I need to get it to a service center for maintenance soon!

Anyway, I called the acutal customer service today and she is shipping me the part Express mail for FREE! I should have it tomorrow! HOw cool is that?

So, I"ll only have 1/2 my cakes made slowly - and will be able to fly through the rest tomorrow. whew! Hope it comes on time!
