My brother-in-law is turning 21 and wants a Zelda cake (like the video game). So far I've come up with 2 tiers (8" & 6") covered in fondant with the Zelda logo on the front/side of the bottom tier & Happy B-day on the top tier (and also I'm thinking of trying to make the little guy - I forget his name...the one dressed in green - out of fondant to put on top of the top tier).

Other than that..... icon_confused.gif

I was thinking of putting fondant zigzags on the bottom tier's left side, and the top tier's right side. icon_confused.gif

Is there some sort of piping I could do? I'm thinking since the Zelda logo has a shield & sword - some type of medieval design would work. Anyone have any "medieval piping" desgins they could share???

I don't want to do the cakes just plain...And polka dots or stars or swirls would be too girly...

Thanks in advance icon_biggrin.gif

I'll consult my DH when he gets home from work (not until morning, sorry) but my nephew wants one of these in Dec and they've given me lots of ideas. There's something about triangles in the game. I think they were talking about three triangle shaped cakes with the fondant characters on it. Sorry I don't have more detail right now, but I will ask him to refresh my memory tomorrow.

It's been a long time since I've played Zelda. The guy's name is Link, and he rescues Princess Zelda. Check out this place - http://www.zelda.com/universe/ for some ideas.

Maybe on your tiers you could have Zelda on the top tier and Link on the bottom or middle tiers walking/climbing/running to get her...make trails on the cake like the game.

I'd include something on the triforce too- (two triangles right side up together and one on top upside down).

I just talked to DH and here are his ideas. (He's a long time Zelda fan, too)
Three triangle cakes arranged like the triforce. It's basically two triangles side by side, then the third sitting above them, forming a large triangle with an empty triangle shape in the middle.
His idea is to recreate scenes from different Zelda games on each triangle. Either with fondant figures, or FBCT, whatever you're most comfortable with. He's a freak about fondant figures, but even after watching me spend half my life making them for our son's birthday, he still doesn't understand how time consuming they are.
Either way, he said the triforce is the classical symbol of Zelda, so I would try to incorporate that in some way. If you'd like any more detail, please pm me and I'll get more info from him. (can you tell he's really excited about this cake!) He said he may even have some screen shots from the game if you need a visual reference.
Please let me know when the cake is done, I can't wait to see what you decide to do!

Ok...here is the cake...

I spent so much time on Link...I didn't really have any time to spend on the cake! icon_cry.gif

I've got to remember to start these things way ahead of time!!

But...he said he liked it!

(I think there's a clearer pic in my photos)
