Let me first say WOW!! icon_eek.gificon_surprised.gif I am in the company of some truly spectacular cake decorators!! I've just spent the past 45 minutes in the gallery looking at some AWESOME cakes. This leading to my question.. I seen some cakes with icing (I'm guessing BC?) that looked like fur? How do you go about creating this effect?
Thanks in advance!! thumbs_up.gif

Welcome to CC kjackson! One of my most favorite things to do EACH day is wander through the galleries being impressed with the talent here. You will learn so much from the knowledgable decorators here...even if this is "just a hobby".

I love using the grass tip (made some pretty cute cupcakes for easter with it) but it can make your hand sore....perhaps my bc was just too thick. I am very new at decorating.

if you want to use a coupler for it...you have to get the large coupler.

it is a big tip

Thanks for the tip on the tip Doug.

I can use a tip w/out the coupler.. but isn't there a chance the icing could seep between the bag & the tip?

As far as making cute cupcakes (mkerton) I bet there are alot of possibilities with this tip. (especially Easter themed) I am new at decorating too. (with actual tips anyhow.. I used to just get crafty with a ziplock bag snipped off. icon_rolleyes.gif ) I had no idea there were so many tips out there. I can't wait to get baking icon_wink.gificon_biggrin.gif

at the very start when first putting pressure on the bag, a little might leak.

so long as the hole is not oversize, as pressure builds the bag will seal right to the tip and way you go.

(and remember this is for making grass and hair on cakes -- not trying to repair bald spots on male family members and friends) icon_rolleyes.gif

As far as posting pics, I am making a curious george cake for my 2 yr old's birthday party this weekend. It's the first time I've tried a cake using a tip but we'll see how it goes.
