My edible ink is getting low. Do you all usually just refill them or buy all new cartridges. The refills are much cheaper. But I don't want to waste my money if it doesn't work well. I appreciate the advice! icon_rolleyes.gif

I refill but it does cause clogging. If you don't mind removing the clogs, go for refilling. If you don't want to mess with that, go for new.

The nozzles in the print head can become clogged after repeated refilling. You're supposed to be able to refill the cartridges up to 4X but it's usually about the second refill that clogging becomes an issue. It's important to refill the cartridges right away, as soon as they're low (not empty), or the clogging may be worse. If you can't get to refilling right away, you'll want to store the cartridges sealed in a ziploc bag with a moist paper towel until you can refill them.

My printer is new I used it one time and the second time my yellow would not work so i did a cleaning. the test does not show yellow strip but when i printed a picture the yellow was in it. The ink is coming out of the cartage on the head. Can you tell why it doesn't print on the test.

Since you both have knowledge of edible images, I have a couple of questions I hope one or either of you would'nt mind answering for me. I don't have a printer that can use edible ink so I having Wal-Mart's bakery print one for me. The lady at the bakery told me to bring a large ziploc bag with me and i'm wondering how should I go about getting it home. Will it need to be kept on ice to keep the ink from running or what? Should I keep it in the freezer or just keep it in a cool cabinet? This thing is costing me $5.00 and she said she could only do one so I really don't want to mess it up before I get it on the cake. THANKS so much. Any tips will be VERY appreciated!!!

As long as you store it flat, sealed airtight in the ziploc bag and out of direct light, it should be fine.

Did you print another nozzle check test after the cleaning? If you did, try viewing the test in natural light. Sometimes house lighting has a yellow hue and makes the test hard to read.
