Hello everybody! I just bought the Wilton fondant and gum paste course book and it says to stick gum paste pieces together with 'gum glue.' I searched the book a few times as well as the Wilton website and can't find where to buy gum glue or how to make it. I have 3 nation-wide craft stores within 15 minutes of my house and nobody is offering the course in the forseeable future! I want to try to make some flowers for my sister's graduation cake at the end of June. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a bunch!

It tells you how to make it on the top of page 14. You take a 1/4 teaspoon of gum paste and break it into tiny pieces and dissolve it in 1 Tablespoon of water. Let it rest for 1 hour. It'll eventually dissolve. I'll keep for up to a week according to the book

Thank you! I looked through the book 3 or 4 times and I don't know how I missed it each time. Oh well, thanks again!

I also missed it until my instructor told me what it was. Needless to say I didn't have it the first time but made some for the final project. Others had difficulties with their flowers sliding down the fondant (using just water), but I just put a little dab of gum glue and they were stuck!

The recipe I use is from Nicholas Lodge
1 cup boiling water
1 heaping teaspoon Tylose powder
Sprinkle the Tylose over the boiling water, stir and pour into a glass container. Leave at room temperature overnight, the next morning if there are any lumps in the mixture, remove them. Store the glue in the refrigerator in a glass container with a tight fitting lid. Actually I use empty plastic Tylose powder containers. It keeps about 6 months in the refrigerator. It will eventually begin to get moldy, toss it out and make a new batch.
