I know I have read that you can mix gumpaste with mmf to make it easier to work with and dry faster. Can I just add a little gum-tex to my mmf instead of making gumpaste and then mixing it with mmf? If so how much should I add for a batch of mmf? I am going to be making figures and I would like them to hold their shape better as I am doing them. Thanks for any help!

In the Wilton book it says to add 1 teaspoon to 10-12 oz. of fondant.

Thanks! I didn't think to look in the Wilton book. Since I got on Cake Central I almost never look at my books anymore.

Okay, this may be a stupid question, but I made MMF last week and then read about Gum Tex helping to dry it out faster. Obviously, I added mine in after the MMF was made, I kneaded it in. My question is, can you add it in while mixing up the MMF???

Yes, you can add it in while mixing your MMF.

Does adding the gumtex to the mmf change the taste because the reason I use mmf instead of regular is so it actually tastes good. ?????

No, gum tex does not change the taste of the MMF, you cant tell its in there at all!

I am very new to MMF. I made my first batch of Easy MMF this past Thursday. I am not familiar with gum paste and gum tex. Are these products the same thing? I also need to add something to my MMF to help it dry so I can do more with it.

Would someone explain to me what gum paste/gum tex is?

Also, does this come in powder form or what?

Can I add a small amount gum tex/paste to MMF already made that I only want to make a figure out of? Because some of the MMF I want to remain pliable to attach to a cake.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Can tylose be added to MMF instead of gumtex? If so, what amount should be added? Thanks.

Yes, Tylose can be added instead of gum-tex. I believe it is the same amount as you would for gum-tex, it does not take much at all. You really just have to experiment with it to know what you like, the more you add, the faster it will harden but you do not want it to harden to quickly because then it will not be pliable.

Is Tylose something that can be bought at Hobby Lobby or Michael's? Can you add some powder to MMF that has been already made or do you need to add it when make the recipe?

Thanks,
darkchocolate

You cannot get tylose at Michaels, not sure about Hobby Lobby, I don't have one of those around here. I get mine online from Sugarcraft. Nicholas Lodge carries it also. I am thinking of just kneading into MMF that I already have made up. Will that work?
