Here's a pencil cake that I did for my fellow teachers for our last day of school tomorrow! I call this my Neopolitan cake because from eraser to top it's chocolate, yellow, and strawberry cake. Buttercream icing. MMF on outside. I used 4 DH mixed to make this. It's about 2.5 feet long and 8-10 inches wide! It was fun to make! Thanks again to Cake L8T for all your help with this!

Thanks for the compliments! The cakes are 8" rounds cut in half and then turned on their side. I stacked them side by side...with buttercream in between each layer...same as what you'd do vertically, I did horizontally. I had to carve the tip though. The actual black tip is just fondant rolled into that shape. I put the eraser on first with the fondant, then the tip..then the yellow. I did the green/metal last. I used my wilton fondant cutter/roller to make the lines and in the tool set I used the ball tool and made the indentations.

The board is a 1/2 inch sheet of foam core board. I used blue marker to make the horizontal line and a red marker to do the one vertical line.
It took 4 cake mixed to make this cake.

They loved the cake! I took it in and set it up in the library, where we were having our lunch, and someone walked it and tapped it with their knuckle because they thought it was a paper mache center piece!!!!!!!! Many of them don't know that I've been playing around with cake decorating for the past few months...so it was a fun way to let them know!
